The following steps (unless marked optional) are required to participate in the tournamnet. If you don't understand how to do one of the steps outlined in the checklist below, please see the FAQ page to see if your question is there.
The randomizer community has amazing setup guides on their homepage and the wonderful CoreySG9
made a video guide to help newcomers get setup. Additionally, check our calendar for community events where the randomizer
community hosts practice races and personalized setup sessions!
This wonderful spreadsheet by Xtreone
details every possible randomized check location that can be found in game. While this sheet
is helpful, it is highly recommended to play through several seeds so that you have a rough idea where all the treasure chests are
and how to progress in the game.
Commonly Missed Checks:
CPM is a rough trick we use to decide where we go when we route. We typically want to proceed with visits where the number of checks you collect in a unit period of time is high. This in tandem with knowing how many important checks there are in each world at the start should help with your routing.
If you obtain a drive form early on, it can be useful to level drive forms as you progress through the worlds if Drive Levels have checks on them. For example, you can use wisdom form on many starting mob fights, final form in the first fight of Twilight Town, valor form on the minute long pirates fight (etc.). This can save you the time of going out of your way to get drive levels.
To skip the fights on this ship in the second visit of Port Royal, simply jump into the ship hold (cabin) once the mob fight starts. Then, go back out and talk to Jack again and select the same destination again. This will bypass any mob fight on the ship.
Our wonderful randomizer community has been doing a lot to try and help out our racers. Feel free to peruse these example runs where our randomizer regulars talk openly about their thought process
and give great suggestions for routing and boss fights!
